When will Tendring households receive Census 2021? | Harwich and Manningtree Standard

IN LESS than two months, households across Tendring will be asked to take part in Census 2021. The census is a once-in-a-decade survey which gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941 because of the Second World War. It will be the first ran predominantly online, with households receiving a letter containing a unique access code, allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets. However, there will be plenty of support available for people who are not confident with online services, and paper questionnaires will be automatically issued in areas where the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has identified residents are more likely to need them.

Testing site at Clacton Leisure Centre to stop operating once tests run out

RESIDENTS without coronavirus symptoms looking to collect a swab test at a site in Clacton will soon no longer be able to following a change in Government policy. Tendring Council had been running a PCR test site within the the town s Vista Road leisure centre, which permitted locals to pick up a free test - and drop it back off - without having to book an appointment. The scheme, however, has now been pulled after Downing Street altered its stance on Covid-19 testing and how it should be safely and efficiently carried out within the public domain. Clacton Leisure Centre will remain open to collect completed tests and until testing stock runs out and an announcement will be made on the council s social media channels this becomes the case.
