The Burlington City Council will be unchanged for the next two years as Jon Billups and Lynda Graham-Murray were re-appointed to their roles as mayor and mayor pro-tem.
Burlington, IA- Burlington Mayor Jon Billups has been re-elected as mayor of the city. At the City Council's regular meeting on Monday, January 3rd, Billups was the only nominee for mayor of Burlington and was unanimously re-elected to another 2-year term as Mayor. City Councilman Bill Maupin said that "I think Jon has done a good job the last two years, he loves this city, and I think he should continue as mayor." Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Graham-Murray said that Billups "has the pulse of the people." "He really has a firm pulse of the people, the citizens of Burlington, I think he has done a phenomenal job and he deserves to continue serving the capacity he has been doing," Murray said. Graham-Murray was also unanimously re-elected as Mayor Pro Tem.
Burlington, IA- The results of Tuesday's combined City/School election are in. In Tuesday's race, all three Burlington City Council incumbents were re-elected to the council. Mayor Jon Billups received 1,480 votes, Mayor Pro-temp Lynda Graham Murray received 1,070 votes, and Councilman Matt Rinker received 1,055 votes. In the Burlington School board election, the individuals elected to the three available seats are Scott Mason with 1,404 votes, Darven Kendell with 1,149 votes, and Christi Burghoffer with 766 votes. Also, Burlington residents have voted to renew the city option sales tax.
