It was dangerous to be a Black man in Waco in 1922 and 1923, as the community panicked over a spree of rapes and murders targeting couples in secluded areas.
“It is all right to reminisce and remember what happened, but what God wants us to do today is to hug each other," said Bush, a descendent of Jesse Washington.
