Fourth generation Rim Country native Hannah Lusk is on a happy little trek to bring her signature black cherry flavored whiskey to the world â at least this little corner of it.
But it turned out more like the Quest for the Golden Fleece â with bureaucrats playing the role of the dragon that never sleeps.
But now at the end of the epic journey, Luskâs Hannah and Hooch whiskey joins a line up of local foodie selections available in Rim Country restaurants and other outlets. The selection includes Lyman Ranch beef, Bruzzi Vineyard wines and locally sourced dinners at Duzaâs restaurant â with others already selling or launching soon. Each local food producer had their own dragons to slay, as they discovered how to produce and market locally sourced foods.
The soon to open Rim Country BBQ on Main Street held a branding party on Feb. 20.
No, it wasnât a party to launch a marketing brand, instead it was a party to actually brand the new outdoor bar of the restaurant.
Rim Country BBQ, 202 W. Main St., has set up shop in the old Journigan House on Main Street across from the Sawmill Theatres. The restaurant has several rooms and a large outdoor patio where live music will play after the restaurant opens in mid-March, if all goes right.
Owners Robert and Debi Santoro invited local ranchers on Feb. 20 to sample smoked meats including brisket from the local Lyman Ranch prepared by Steve Wilson, the restaurantâs grill master, said April Oswalt, the bar manager.
