PETALING JAYA: Back-up shuttler Jacky Kok has come up just short in his bid to land a maiden senior title after finishing second in the eighth-tier Estonian International.
All in line with the planning: Wong Choong Hann said ‘the decision made shows that we are serious about our work’.
PETALING JAYA: A decision to drop several senior shuttlers just before the Chinese New Year celebration this week may seem brutal but the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) believe they had to do it anyway.
Yesterday, the BAM severed ties with seniors Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles), Vivian Hoo (women’s doubles) and Soniia Cheah (women’s singles) after assessing the players’ performance at the recent back-to-back tournaments in Thailand.
Their decision comes just months after dropping several coaches from their set-up last year.
