Former UTEP linebacker and current NFL free agent Alvin Jones was spotted Friday morning at the Green Bay rookie minicamp for an NFL tryout, as reported by Packers beat writers.
Alvin, the twin brother of Packers star tailback Aaron Jones, previously underwent a tryout with Green Bay on Oct. 15. Reports suggested that Alvin did not earn a spot due to the team s need for an offensive lineman at the time. Both sides obviously kept in touch and now the UTEP and Burges alum has another shot.
When the twin brothers starred at UTEP, Alvin was a top player on the defense from 2014-17. His 343 career tackles with the Miners are second-most in program history since the 2000 season while his 40.0 career tackles for loss rank third and 15.0 sacks tie for fourth at UTEP. He earned All C-USA honors three times during his career.
