A Lesotho stock herder has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl in Mqhekezweni village. The Bhityi regional court sentenced Mabula Ramatseatsana, 44, on Friday.

The Bityi Regional Court has sentenced a traditional leader to life imprisonment and a further eight years for the rape of his two relatives.
Nkosi Avelile Sakhisizwe Mtirara, 32, whose area of authority covers Khonqeni and Xhongorha areas near Mthatha, was found guilty of repeatedly raping his relatives, who were in their teens during the commission of the offences.
National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Luxolo Tyali said that the court had sensed Mtirara to life in jail for raping the younger victim and to a further eight years in jail for raping the girl.
