Clay County taxpayers have spent $4.9 million on a controversial government annex project very few people wanted, according to the latest county figures released to KMBC 9 Investigates.For that price, taxpayers now own a piece of property with a massive hole in the ground surrounded by a fence.Two former county commissioners, Gene Owen and Luann Ridgeway, supported construction of a 60,000 foot annex building at the corner of Missouri 152 Highway and North Brighton Avenue.

Kansas City residents can apply for rent and utility assistance starting Thursday as part of a $4.5 million emergency relief effort coordinated by the city and paid for by the federal government.

Currently, she is training and competing from her home base in L Estartit, Spain, as a member of the Bigla Pro Cycling Team. In 2012, Olds competed in the London Olympic Games as a member of the U.S. Women s Road Race team, finishing a respectable seventh place the best finish for a U.S. Olympic women s road race team member since 1992. Olds, pictured here training in the Principality of Andorra, now has her sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. I believe I was prepared to become a professional athlete and Olympian by many of the experiences I had at Roanoke College, says Olds who majored in Health and Human Performance at Roanoke.
