Greencastle-Antrim School Board set to adopt 2021-22 budget

Echo Pilot The Greencastle-Antrim School Board is scheduled to decide next week how to close the $867,157 gap between revenues and expenditures in the 2021-22 budget. The board is expected to approve the final budget during a meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 17, in the high school library. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person and it also can be viewed on YouTube, accessible from the school district website. The finance committee is recommending a 2.5% property tax increase and taking $250,000 from capital reserves to make up most of the difference between $44,272,428 in projected revenues and $45,139,585 in projected expenditures, according to committee member Tracy Baer.

Greencastle-Antrim School Board primary candidates answer questions

There is one, two-year seat available, but no one registered for that position so a candidate could be nominated in the primary with 10 write-in votes the same number of signatures needed on nominating petitions, according to the Franklin County commissioners office. If there is no write-in candidate from the primary, someone could win the seat with a write-in in the November election, with no minimum vote. If the seat is still unfilled, it will be considered a vacancy to be filled by the school board. Greencastle-Antrim Education Foundation s Kaley Field project begins

Dean Martin talked about how the community has supported his family s Sunnyway Foods for 65 years. McCauley was shopping at Sunnyway in December when Martin, a G-A graduate, asked him about the status of the project. McCauley recalled he said didn t know because GAEF did not want to ask the community for money during a pandemic, then Dean said, I wanna get it built and the Martin family became the second major sponsor.
