Vivid Sydney 2021 will transform Sydney into an extraordinary playground of the unexpected from Friday 6 August to Saturday 28 August, with more than 200 events, including 19 installations by international artists, and a virtual talk from British actor, star of The Good Place and body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Steve Cox said: Vivid Sydney is an annual festival that transforms Sydney s CBD in winter into a playground of the unexpected, celebrating Sydney s diversity, resilience, Aboriginal culture and vibrant creative community.
From street art, to sky-high light projections and even an over-the-water light walk - the official lineup for Sydney s iconic Vivid festival has been unveiled with Australia s Indigenous culture set to take centre stage in the festival s return.
With just over 10 weeks to go until the event kicks off on August 6, organisers have given attendees a sneak peek into the more than 200 events set to take place across the city. Vivid Sydney is all about pushing boundaries and transporting festival-goers to a playground of the unexpected. This year s program delivers fresh and engaging content, bringing feelings of joy, wonder, discovery, hope and excitement to all who absorb it, Festival Director Gill Minervini said.

The operators of Luna Park in Sydney have agreed to pay a $5000 fine for a New Year s Eve event where they hosted a large crowd of people, despite receiving legal advice that they did not breach COVID-19 regulations.
NSW Police issued a penalty infringement notice to the amusement park about 2pm on Wednesday after mobile phone footage showed crowds of people gathered at Luna Park to watch the New Year fireworks in Sydney Harbour.
