BSE Sensex jumped 118.57 points, or 0.19 per cent, to settle at 62,547.11, while NSE's Nifty50 gained 46.35 points, or 0.25 per cent, to end the day at 18,534.10 for the day.
Based on the OI percentage, 51 stocks were on the short-covering list. These included Indian Hotels, Mahanagar Gas, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Indus Towers, and Sun TV Network.
Markets halted 4-consecutive days winning streak on Wednesday ahead of GDP data, with banking stocks being the top laggards while smallcap stocks outperformed. Despite maintaining outperformance compared to global cues, Sensex fell 0.55% to 62,622.24, while Nifty 50 shed 0.53% to 18,534.40.
Based on the OI percentage, 87 stocks, including Astral, Lupin, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Titan Company and National Aluminimum Company, saw long build-ups.
