Pueblo County Patriots term limit measure for 2021 ballot
A group of concerned citizens known as the Pueblo County Patriots hosted a rally Wednesday at the Pueblo County Courthouse announcing publicly that the members are working to introduce a ballot measure limiting any Pueblo public office that currently does not have a term limit.
Currently, the only county elected officials with term limits are the county commissioners, which are limited to two terms.
The rally was met with some conflict from a small group of counter-protesters, although organizers say they host the rally on a near weekly basis. Members said they hope to spread the word about the dangers of socialism and globalism in addition to the benefits of aligning government processes with religious morals. Counter-protestors decried President Donald Trump, police activity and Trump s unfounded allegations of election tampering.
The details emerged Monday in an arrest affidavit for Eddie Lovins, 48, of Pueblo West.
He was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal attempted murder and first-degree criminal attempted assault. His bond has been set at $500,000.
According to the affidavit, Lovins placed a call to the Tennessee Highway Patrol and told them a “bomb” was in the Tennessee State Capitol Building. Lovins didn’t admit to planting a bomb – that was later investigated and dismissed after a search resulted in no bombs or threat.
Deputies attempted to contact Lovins at his home twice, according to the document, but were unsuccessful. The third attempt came after the Tennessee Highway Patrol contacted the Pueblo County Sheriff s Office and said Lovins had called them again.
