Louisiana Congressman-elect Luke Letlow, 41, died from the coronavirus on Tuesday night and reactions from some within the media were predictably low. Journalists like Vox.com s Aaron Rupar, who runs a popular Twitter account where the videos he posts often gain a lot of traction within liberal circles, took issue with how Letlow had advocated towards a balanced approach to dealing with COVID-19, specifically with how the long-term economic effects lockdowns will have on the country.

Louisiana Republican Congressman-elect Luke Letlow died on Tuesday night from complications related to COVID-!9 after having been hospitalized last Wednesday, a family friend told the Monroe News-Star.
Letlow died in the Intensive Care Unit at Oschner LSU Health in Shreveport, Louisiana. He announced on December 18 that he had tested positive for the virus.
The 41-year-old married dad of two won the Pelican State’s 5th District seat in a Dec. 5 runoff race and was set to take office on Sunday.

Congressman-elect Luke Letlow (R-LA) has succumbed to COVID. He was 41 years old. He leaves behind his wife and two small children. He tested positive on December 18 but deteriorated rapidly. He passed away in the intensive care unit at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. Letlow was chief of staff of outgoing Congressman Ralph Abraham (R-LA). He was set to take over his seat. It’s an absolute tragedy, but the ghouls are already out.

The politician is at least the second Republican to be elected only to die from Covid-related issues. Last month, a GOP candidate for the North Dakota House of Representatives won his race despite dying in hospital nearly a month earlier. In July, 74-year-old former presidential candidate Herman Cain lost his battle against the virus.
