Worcester is set for a tourism boom after the government announced that double-jabbed EU and US travellers will be allowed to enter the country without quarantining. Previously, only travellers who received both their vaccinations in the UK were exempt from the ten-day isolation period, but EU and US citizens will soon be joining them. Transport secretary Grant Shapps announced that the new rules will be in place from 4am on Monday August 2. On Friday, we kicked off the 2021 Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards, which are run by Newsquest’s Worcestershire titles, including the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette and Evesham Journal. The aim of the awards is to champion those teams and individuals that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to care for people during the Covid pandemic. There are 12 categories, and finalists will be chosen by a panel of experts and the winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony broadcast live on our website and social media channels in April.
