The owner of Daly Burgers on Corydon Avenue is run off his feet because he can t hire workers. It seems, the restaurants industry is awash with jobs that no one wants. It s so hard to find people, Maragkoudakis said.
WINNIPEG Some businesses in Winnipeg’s Corydon area are saying that construction is stopping customers from coming into their stores. Betsy Hiebert, who owns Cocobeans Bakeshop, said her business has been doing a lot more delivery since construction took over the space where her shop’s patio used to be. “We’ve got construction like crazy in front of our shop,” she said, “It’s taking up two lanes, so there’s no parking on Corydon where we are.” She said this has been a bit of a “nightmare” as her customers come from all over the city. “It’s tough. They don’t know where to park,” Hiebert said. “We’ve got right turns only and it sends you in a bit of a maze.”

Ripped up streets and barricades are just another hurdle for Corydon business owners in a year where nothing is normal.
As spring arrives and Winnipeggers emerge from winter hibernation with a hunger for normal activity, one of the city s destination streets is eager to accommodate as much as provincial health orders will allow.
The challenge this year is tougher as Corydon Avene from Lilac Street to Daly Street North smack in heart of Corydon s busiest section is undergoing six weeks of sewer and water repairs.
