On a deserted island off the west coast of Australia in the summer of 1629, mayhem reigned. Pitted against one another were several groups of sailors, naval officers, civilians and their wives and children, all of whom were competing either for vast, almost ludicrous amounts of treasure or, in many cases, their very lives.
