Municipalities close facilities in wake of Province s Stay-at-Home order

Kincardine, ON, Canada / ShorelineToday.ca Jan 15, 2021 6:27 AM A number of municipalities have closed down their facilities and cancelled programs after the Province implemented the Stay-at-Home order. Many indoor facilities such as ice rinks, pool, and recreation centres as well as administration offices are closed. Outdoor amenities such as trails and parks will remain open and most will continue curbside garbage collection. In Saugeen Shores, Centennial Pool, the Plex, and the Coliseum are closed. Municipal parks and trails remain open, including the dog park and waterfront. The landfill will be open but will only accept contactless transactions (i.e. no cash) and curbside waste collection will continue.

Municipalities preparing for lockdown

Municipalities in our region are already taking steps to prepare for the province-wide shutdown on Boxing Day. The Municipality of Kincardine announced that all facilities including the Davidson Centre and Tiverton Sports Centre will be closed to the public and all programming will be cancelled for the duration of the 28-day period. Essential services like snow removal, road maintenance, and fire & emergency services will continue to operate as will the Kincardine Waste Management Centre. In a news release, municipal staff will be working from home as much as they can but will still be available by email or phone. The Town of Saugeen Shores announced that they will be closing their municipally-run facilities including the Plex, Southampton Curling Club, Coliseum, and Centennial Pool.
