West Midlands Police said the post-mortem into Mrs Downer s death will take place on April 14. While tests are still being undertaken to establish the breeds of dogs, which were tranquilised after the attack and seized by police before being “humanely destroyed”.

Lucille Downer. Pic - West Midlands Police TWO dogs which escaped and killed a Rowley Regis great-grandmother in her own back garden have been put down. Lucille Downer, aged 85, was attacked by the dogs which got into her back garden in Boundary Avenue through a hole in the fence at around 3.20pm on Good Friday (April 2). They were tranquilised after the attack and seized by police. Police have since confirmed they have been put to sleep and that the breed has not yet been identified. A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “The ownership of the dogs was voluntarily transferred to police.
