Rwanda claims to have killed one Congolese'soldier' and arrested two others at the border. The Rwandan army claimed on January 16, 2024, to have kill a DRC "soldier" and arrest two others who, according to it, crossed the border between the two countries. According to the Rwandan Defence Forces (RDF), the incident took place around 11 a.m. Kigali time on Tuesday morning. Several border incidents have been denounced by the two nations over the past two years.
Fulgence Kayishema, a former police inspector, was arrested on 24 May 2023 in South Africa. Accused of his role in the massacre of 2,000 Tutsis who had taken refuge in a church during the genocide. He was one of the last persons still wanted by the Mechanism in charge of the final cases of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. The first court appearances began this morning in Cape Town for his transfer to Arusha, then to Kigali where he will be tried.
