Town should have defensive duo Tommy Smith and Gareth McAuley available for selection for Saturday’s live Sky game against Sheffield Wednesday (KO 5.20pm). The return of Smith and McAuley gives manager Roy Keane a selection dilemma with Alex Bruce and Damien Delaney impressing at centre-half in recent weeks.
Town boss Roy Keane will wait until Saturday morning before making a decision on whether skipper David Norris is fit enough to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The midfielder is suffering with the ankle injury which he sustained in last week’s 2-0 victory over Millwall, while winger Andros Townsend is OK despite picking up a knock in a practice match earlier in the week.
Boss Roy Keane says he is considering making changes to his side for Tuesday’s game at Reading (KO 8pm) with a number of unnamed players suffering from knocks from the weekend draw at Scunthorpe.
Town are again likely to be without central defender Gareth McAuley for Saturday’s live BBC game against Newcastle United, which will see the North Stand renamed in honour of Sir Bobby Robson (BBC2 from 5.05pm, KO 5.30pm). The Northern Irishman is back from his one-match ban but has a calf injury.
