He and two others were arrested following a drug raid in August at a home on North Ninth Street.
Co-defendants Jessica Kyle and Lucas Stagg received 5 to 7.5 years in prison for their roles.
Judge Robert Batchelor gave Carpenter an extra year based on preliminary buys leading to a search warrant being obtained.
