Hello: Nathan Efobi | mgoblog

In my years of collecting recruiting data Efobi might be the most controversial. On3 has him on the edge of their top-100. 247 doesn't think he's among the top 100 players in Georgia. The sites all list an offer from Georgia, which he visited plenty, as well as Penn State (also visited). But then they report he was probably headed to Georgia Tech until Michigan and Miami duked it out over the fall. We're not talking about a guy who immigrated from Africa to Montreal then hid in a New England boarding school for the pandemic Efobi's dad immigrated from Nigeria, but Nathan himself grew up in the northeast Atlanta suburbs. They have football there. I've seen it. Michigan jumped in last summer, and got Efobi's measurements in-person when he came up for the barbecue, at which point Sherrone Moore identified the lineman as one of his top targets. Moore's interest was shared by his former co-coordinator, as Josh Gattis made a run at Efobi around the same tim

Hello: Jason Hewlett

Next up on our list of backlogged Hellos is Jason Hewlett, defensive athlete from Youngstown, Ohio. Hewlett represents one of three recent 2023 Michigan commits from Ohio, as the Michigan staff tries to build a bridge into the Buckeye State more seriously than at any other time in Harbaugh's tenure.     GURU RATINGS RATINGS BY SITE 247: 6'4/220 On3: 6'3/215 Rivals: 6'3/215 ESPN: 6'3/210 4 , 90, NR Ovr #21 ATH, #10 OH 3 , 89, NR Ovr #32 LB, #16 OH 3 , 5.6, NR Ovr #44 ATH, #23 OH 3 , 79, #42 MW #33 OLB, #14 OH 4.01 3.93 3.66 3.87 COMPOSITE RANKINGS 247 Composite On3 Consensus MGoBlog   3 , 0.8752, #684 Ovr #55 ATH, #20 OH 3 , 87.9, #565 Ovr #57 LB, #1 OH 3.5 , #479/762 Ovr #57/84 Edges since 1990 3.75 3.79 3.84 Last row is Seth's conversion to a five-star scale. Hello: Zack Marshall

We're circling back on the guys who committed during football season. Marshall jumped in way back on August 13th, but that's when we went into preseason mode. It was also a few months after the commitment of fellow TE Deakon Tonielli, and the decommitment of TE Andrew Rappleyea a few months before that. Marshall was a guy Matt Weiss discovered while out in San Diego, and things moved quickly from there, with Marshall visiting for the barbecue, reporting an offer on July 31, and pledging shortly thereafter. He had a 1000+yard junior year as a receiver at lower-division Santa Fe Christian before switching to TE and moving up to local power Carlsbad, where he was just one of many targets of 5-star 2024 Alabama commit Julian Sayin. Hello: Semaj Bridgeman

Michigan lost LB commit Raylen Wilson in late June but then replaced him in the class only a couple days later in snaring Imhotep Institute's Semaj Bridgeman. The Michigan-Bridgeman courtship was pretty quick, as Bridgeman's name seldom appeared in recruiting insider pieces until mid-May and then suddenly it was on. He visited in early June, and all the predictions trended Michigan's favor. On July 1, Bridgeman made it official:    GURU RATINGS Rivals: 6'1/220 ESPN: 6'1/220 247: 6'2/230 On3: 6'1/235 247 Comp 4 , 5.8, NR Ovr #12 ILB, #7 PA 4 , 82, #18 East, #175 Ovr #4 ILB, #4 PA 4 , 90, NR Ovr #29 LB, #5 PA 3 , 87, NR Ovr #60 LB, #16 PA 4 , 0.903, #306 Ovr #20 LB, #6 PA 4.08 4.35 4.10 3.64 4.03 Last row is Seth's conversion to a five-star scale. Hello: Evan Link | mgoblog

Michigan picked up a massive commitment following the BBQ at the Big House last weekend, OT Evan Link. You could read that choice of words one of two ways. On one hand, it's a massive pick up because the player in question is a massive human being. On the other hand, it's massive because Link is a solid prospect at a position that has been poorly recruited so far this cycle, offensive tackle. Either way, Michigan needed a 4 tackle in this class and I am very pleased to get to write this Hello:    GURU RATINGS Rivals: 6'6/290 ESPN: 6'5/290 247: 6'6/290 On3: 6'5.5/290 247 Comp 3 , 5.7, NR Ovr #50 OT, #3 DC 4 , 80, #35 East, NR Ovr #33 OT, #3 DC 3 , 88, NR Ovr #43 OT, #3 DC 4 , 93, #125 Ovr #11 OT, #2 DC 4 , 0.9041, #294 Ovr #27 OT, #3 DC 3.77 3.95 3.79 4.47 4.04 Link is a prospect where there's a bit of disagreement between the various sources.
