THE FLATS – No. 10 Georgia Tech scored in 14 of the final 19 innings of the series to clinch its 12
th-straight ACC series after a 13-9 win over No. 1 Louisville on Sunday afternoon at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Five multi-hit batters powered the Yellow Jackets (8-3, 5-1 ACC), led by
Tres Gonzalez, who finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, including a crucial squeeze bunt that scored a key insurance run in the eighth.
Drew Compton had another strong day, going 2-for-2 with another home run and double for three RBI, while
Andrew Jenkins (2-for-4, 3 RBI),
Stephen Reid (2 hits, HR, RBI),
Jake DeLeo (one RBI) all had two-hit days.
Justyn-Henry Malloy also launched a huge three-run homer.
Louisville was led by three multi-hit performances. Lucas Dunn went 3-for-4 on the day to lead their hitters.
The rubber match is set between 10
th-ranked Georgia Tech and top-ranked Louisville for Sunday, March 7. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ACC Network and WREK 91.1 FM.
