From 26th October to 3rd of November 2022 the 20th edition of the Capechecs chess festival took place in Cap d’Agde in France. A total of 879 players fought in the different tournaments, from the famous Cap Echecs Trophy to various open tournaments for players of all strength. The Trophy was won by GM Laurent Fressinet after a narrow final against GM Luca Moroni, and the Open was won by GM Maxime Lagarde ahead of 49 grandmasters from 32 nations. | Photos: Pierre Textoris
The big rating favourites in the open section of the Chennai Olympiad were held to a draw in Monday’s fourth round: Uzbekistan drew the United States thanks to a remarkable victory by Nodirbek Abdusattorov over Fabiano Caruana on top board. Meanwhile, five teams scored a fourth consecutive victory and are now sharing the lead the most surprising member of this group is Israel, which beat the Netherlands on Monday.
