Subscriber only Lawyers representing about 6800 flood victims in a class action against dam operators and the Queensland government are preparing for the next step in the seven-year legal fight. Following on from a $440 million settlement reached between 2011 southeast Queensland flood victims and two of the three defendants in February this year, lawyers will now seek approval from the NSW Supreme Court for the massive settlement, which only constitutes about half of payout Maurice Blackburn is pursuing on behalf of its clients. Lawyers costs are yet to be determined, and will be discussed in Monday s hearing before Justice Christine Adamson in Sydney.
