Man killed in crash involving tractor-trailer in East Lubbock Staff reports Lubbock police on Wednesday confirmed that a person whose vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer the day before in East Lubbock later died in hospital. The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the Tuesday morning collision at the intersection of East 19th Street and Canyon Lake Drive. Lubbock Police were called to the intersection at 7:55 a.m. April 13 for reports of a collision with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located 57-year-old Shelby Mann with what were initially considered moderate injuries. He was taken to Covenant Medical Center via ambulance. He was pronounced deceased two hours later, prompting the MCIU Investigation, according to a statement from Lubbock police.

A Dodge Avenger, driven by 27-year-old Raul Lopez, was traveling eastbound in the 2200 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road. The pedestrian, 43-year-old Jacob R. Thomas, was walking southbound across the lanes of traffic. The vehicle struck Thomas, who was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
