This former McDonald's in Springfield will reopen this summer as diner

A summer opening is planned. The Asanis will operate the Springfield location in addition to the popular Chatham Cafe, which celebrated its sixth anniversary earlier this month. The Asanis relocated from the Chicago area to central Illinois in 2015 to open the cafe at 414 N. Main St., Chatham. The classic diner offers an extensive eight-page menu three pages alone dedicated to breakfast selections, which are served throughout the day. Daily made from scratch, soups range from the standard beef and barley to more creative blends like cream of cheeseburger. Home cooking is the theme for the daily specials like smothered chopped steak, stuffed green peppers, deep-fried pork chops and scratch-made lasagna.
