ULM is the first and only university in Louisiana to provide the Community Emergency Response Team Program. FEMA started CERT in 1986, and more than 600,000 have completed the training. The CERT training at ULM was geared for emergencies on campus but can be used when needed in the community.

THIBODAUX â Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser granted an official pardon to a crawfish on Tuesday to celebrate crawfish season.
Lafitte the Crawfish was given the pardon during the Fifth Annual Pardoning of the Crawfish event at The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute on Nicholls State University campus in Thibodaux.
Official pardons for crawfish began in 2017 by Lt. Governor Nungesser and have been held annually on the first Tuesday following Mardi Gras.
