All major train lines across the National Capital Region halted operations this Thursday morning after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake rocked various parts of Luzon for the purposes of safety inspections within the various railways systems.
The Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that it has approved fare hike for rail lines LRT-1 and LRT-2, but will defer its implementation upon the orders of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for a “thorough study” on its economic impact on commuters.
A progressive group condemned a recent decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss its petition against the implementation of fare hikes within the MRT and LRT systems that have been stalled eight years ago stating that this would lead to more rounds of increases in the long run.
