Northside, David Thibodaux STEM hold commencement ceremonies

Another group of seniors has officially graduated from Acadiana high schools Friday. Among those holding commencement ceremonies were Northside High and David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy in Lafayette Parish.
Both ceremonies were held at the Cajundome Friday - Northside at 5 and David Thibodaux STEM at 7:30.
Family and friends were able to join their graduates in the Cajundome for the ceremonies. LPSS Superintendent Irma Trosclair spoke at each ceremony, recognizing the students for their hard work and achievements amid a difficult year, and wishing them the best for the future.

LAFAYETTE, La. â Carencro Heights Elementary, Prairie Elementary, and Lafayette High schools are all getting new campuses.
The decision was made on Wednesday at a special school board meeting. Funding for the projects was included in the district s Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget, which the board also approved Wednesday.
Board member Justin Centanni, representing District 6, says the money is already assigned to each project, and now each school will be assigned an architect to start outlining the future of each of the schools.

This year, Love Our Schools is going to do just that, but they plan on matching a whole lot of dollars. Well, it s about education,â begins Love Our Schoolsâ Ryan Domengeaux. âWe had the opportunity to support the school system and this year we had the opportunity to bring in all of the schools in the Lafayette Parish School System and over 45 schools have registered to participate this year.â

The Lafayette Parish School System is expanding food distribution to youth in the community to provide supplemental nutrition while schools are closed for Easter/spring break.
All children 18 years of age and younger in Lafayette Parish are eligible, regardless if they are enrolled in LPSS schools or not.
To register to receive meals, parents should visit www.focusfoods.org/register, select Lafayette Parish, and complete the online registration form by the
deadline of Friday, April 2, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
Meals will be distributed via drive-thru service only on Saturday, April 3, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Lafayette Parish at the following school sites:
