The No. 3-seeded Orange finish the season series against the Greyhounds with a perfect 2-0 record, with both games sharing several similarities. The Orange opened the season with an 18-6 win over Loyola in which Syracuse scored the first and third goals of the game before going on longer, unbroken goal streaks. The scoring success continued in Syracuse’s first game of the tournament, with the Orange going on two four-goal streaks and taking a 13-4 lead in the first half.

Syracuse women’s lacrosse will face Loyola in NCAA quarterfinals Updated 8:43 PM; The Syracuse women’s lacrosse team will take on Loyola in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA tournament after the Greyhounds beat Hofstra, 11-9, in the first round on Friday. Loyola (11-2) was the heavy favorite coming into Friday’s game after winning the Patriot League championship. But Hofstra (6-6) stayed with the Greyhounds, coming from behind twice to force a tie game with 5:30 remaining. Loyola ultimately pulled ahead and then added an empty-net goal. With 30 seconds remaining, Loyola’s Elli Kluegel hit the ball out of Alexa Mattera’s stick and the Greyhounds held possession to run out the clock. Kluegel led the way for Loyola with four goals, and Kaitlyn Larsson made 12 saves on the other end.
