if hope hicks tries to invoke executive privilege, they re willing to go to court. they re not backing down on this point, natasha. right, they realize how valuable hope hicks testimony is to kind of getting to the broader, getting to the brought tem of the broader question whether or not trump had corrupt intent when he fired comey when he drafted that statement aboard air force one about the meeting. we ve already seen that they re, you know, willing to take action when it comes to steve bannon issuing an on the spot subpoena. and of course the democrats are extremely frustrated because the republicans will not issue subpoenas for some of most valuable witnesses. of course that means that they are free to attend the hearing and testify pretty much on their own terms. so they really don t have to answer the questions they don t want to answer. of course the white house did not inform the committee according to all the reporting we ve seen that there would be any limitations on hick
folks. there are a whole host of potential felonies that i think michael flynn could conceivably face. i don t think we could know what mueller has until some of these cases go to trial. even the indictment, if there is an indictment, isn t going to tell us everything. but there s one real clue to this, i think, and that was the president asking james comey before he fired him as fbi director to go easy on mike flynn. you know, donald trump is not someone famous for his loyalty to anyone but his family. he s not saint francis, no. anybody else could be thrown under keeping him at bay? well, it suggests. isologicically suggests that trump is worried that flynn could put him in a whole world of hurt. you ve got to worry about what trump might do to you have a loyalty to those who have appointed you, but to his son, that doesn t even touch the loyalty factor here. he s got to look out for his family. well, his son obviously was
no. but health care tax reform is not a cut and dry thing. there are elements that people do not like even when they decide to take one for the team. it takes a little bit of the loyalty factor away from some of these members. it is just a much more they have a decision to make. it may not have been such an open decision for a lot of the members. it depends. if trump is able to sit on his hands to get some of these things through, it is is more advantageous to make sure to count the votes he s got without having to worry about the sand under his feet changing. i m picturing the president sitting on his hands and not tweeting. that he wants not going to happen. john avalon, who is not going to be at this lunch, steve bannon. given so many things about what he said about mitch mcconnell over the weekend, we know he s been talking to the president. he said this is war on mitch mcconnell here. so how much do you think that
you hate to speculate, but you also have trouble believing that the general, who i think is regarded as impressive, wouldn t have taken the job without the authority to do it? he was in a job that he was succeeding at. the stats were going his way, the department of homeland security. he fell on his sword at the beginning. he was the one who went out in front of the press and said, i can do better, and did. so i do think there was this loyalty factor. and we ll see if the authority falls in. just one historical context here. in 1973, president nixon turned to al hague to become chief of staff when hr haldeman was
no doubt. jeff sessions has fairly covered him very well. phil has probably dealt with him during his time in government service. that fateful day is march 2nd. 90 days that president trump has been stewing over this only to pop his top yesterday which just goes to show that the loyalty factor that donald trump has for people is nonexistent. let me tell you what the long range problem of that is, that he s going to find it hard when we see that his his government turns over. his close advisers turn over to find qualified people that are willing to go in and work for $150 a year which a lot of people think is a lot of money but not here in and around washington, d.c. to give up their life to work for somebody who is not loyal to them you know, i was told last week by a source who is close to the president who said, look, loyalty is a one-way street with this president. he expects it from you, but if he believes that you have done something to hurt him, forget about it, forget abou
