In the midst of the pandemic, Alaska s entire May to September cruise season was cancelled in 2020. That left some 1.3 million travelers unable to board ships to experience thunderously calving glaciers, frolicking humpback whales, lively gold rush towns, and fascinating Alaska Native arts scenes. Tourism providers missed serious income. Cruise lines and local officials express muted optimism about 2021, which may be the best year to see Alaska given that cruise ships are unlikely to sail full and coastal towns won t have their typical crowds even post-vaccine rollout. good morning, rob and tanya. let s start things off here with the wildfire situation ongoing in and across texas. whenever you talk about fire, they look for two variables. that is the humidity of the atmosphere and the winds. good news is winds have died down across texas. soon a dry air mass. conditions favorable for fires to spread. not good news here as firefighting efforts ongoing. also very different setup in the northeast with very heavy rainfall continuing to pound the region here today. some spots especially across central pennsylvania into the lower highlands of pennsylvania where mountains give uplift for that rain. 8-plus inches not out of the question. so major flooding setup as we head through the day today. and really on into the late part of the week. rob and tanya, back to you. all right, thanks, jim. now to the rest of today s forecast. some severe storms linger from florida to north carolina. showers and thunderstorms in the rockies. but gorgeous in the midwest
