They appeared healthy, some floating close to shore, most farther out, and none seeming to be bothered by admirers who stopped to watch them on a sunny afternoon.

Veterinarian Marcie Logsdon is part of an EPA‑led research team monitoring lead exposure of tundra swans by collecting their feces as well as sediment in the Lower Coeur d’Alene River Basin.
