The county’s deputy zoning administrator approved a food truck for Stinson Beach last month, and more than 50 community members sent in letters to support it. Steve and Lovisa Rubin, longtime Stinson residents, have plans for a seven-day-a-week food truck located next to their bike shop, Fritz Bikes. The food would be prepared offsite and there would be only two employees at any time in an effort to meet the community need for more dining options without creating more impacts on the village. Many residents wrote to the county about the opportunity to mitigate the long restaurant lines in town, where some local eateries are closed temporarily or permanently. The Lunch Box closed years ago, the Siren Canteen will not reopen until 2023 due to site renovations, and the Sand Dollar may be closed through the summer. Although public comments were overwhelmingly supportive, John Gilbert, the owner of the Parkside Café, opposed the development.
