Inside the New Eco-Conscious Six Senses Botanique

The luxury retreat combines authentic Brazilian design, culture and cuisine / ©Six Senses Botanique Famed for opening properties in some of the world’s most naturally beautiful locations, the Six Senses group prides itself on not only providing a sense of harmony to its guests but also demonstrating that uncompromisingly luxurious hideaways can live hand-in-hand with local communities and ecosystems. The Six Senses Botanique in Brazil is no different: the resort benefits from seven water springs that provide guests with their own mineral water as well as a water treatment station to return clean water back to nature. Plastic is kept to a minimum as Six Senses strives to reach its target of eliminating all plastic usage by 2022. Furthermore, each of the design elements, from the selection of building materials to the interiors, have been thoughtfully chosen to respect the region’s topography, native traditions and culture.

UHC hosts annual Love Your Heart events with new focus

In celebration of American Heart Month, the University Health Center will be hosting events next week to raise awareness of heart disease. From Feb. 22-26, students will be able to attend virtual and in-person Love Your Heart events. Aimee Grindstaff, marketing strategist at Nebraska Medicine, has been hosting the Love Your Heart event for years and said she hopes that students will be more interested this year, so they are able to continue to do the events for years to come.  “When it comes to heart disease, most people think that it just comes later in life,” Grindstaff said. That is true, but your risk for it starts now as a young adult. We are trying to raise awareness of how your heart behavior now can affect you later in life.”
