I am pete carmichael, professor of history at Gettysburg College, also the director of the Civil War Institute. Its my pleasure to welcome laura. Laura is a graduate of penn state university, during her summers she spent time as a seasonal historian at Gettysburg National park. She then went on to unc greensboro where laura and i spent time together and i was her mentor for a year before i went on to West Virginia university. Laura did complete her masters at uncg and then shes had a very varied career in the field of public history. Her first job was at stratford hall, the birthplace of the robert e. Lee.
