Alan is an accomplished history professor who specializes in early u. S. History. Hes held the Thomas Jefferson chair in American History at the university of virginia for the past five years, and before that he taught at the university of california at davis and at boston university. Hes also written eight previous books on topics ranging from the colonial period to the war of 1812 and beyond. Two of his works have won a prettier prize in history. Pulitzer prize in history.
