Medieval day held in Appleby as archaeology project comes to an end

Open day for rare sheep breed in County Durham

THERE is an open day for a rare sheep breed next month in County Durham. On Sunday, August 8, a Zanfara Manx Loaghtan flock Open Day, takes place in Tow Law, at 10.30am. The day will include talks and genetics of four-horn sheep, with a display of skulls. There will also be a craft competition, art exhibition, a card-grading workshop and hands-on with the sheep. The breed comes from the Isle of Man and has only been in the UK since the 1960s. The Manx Loaghtan Sheep Breeders Group is keen to maintain the registered population of the breed. Non-members of Manx Loaghtan Breeders Group are welcome to the event.
