The county’s policy cites the Iowa Smoke Free Air Act to identify the products that are restricted on county premises and that piece of legislation does not include vapor products.
According to the earlier discussion during the meeting, the supervisors were apparently upset because of comments Willson, who is currently serving as the LCCB chair, recently posted on the WQAD-TV Facebook page, calling the board "corrupted."
Previous errors meant Fredonia and Oakville were placed into Zone A of the floodplain, meaning no building could be rebuilt in those areas unless they were raised above the 100-year flood level. Those errors also meant property owners could have seen hikes in their property insurance premiums.
All Iowans 16 years and older can now get a COVID-19 vaccine, but about half of the state’s counties are now declining additional doses because of low turnout.
Keokuk County Public Health Director Allie Helmuth says they declined their 100-dose Moderna allotment from the state this week, yet they still have vaccine appointments available. She says their goal is to vaccinate as many people as possible and residents from outside the county are also welcome to contact her department. This comes after the county dealt with not receiving enough vaccines for weeks which put them near the bottom in the state for doses administered.
