Cell number 4 will reach capacity in about five and a half months, according to the city’s landfill consultant, Albuquerque engineering firm Sauder, Miller and Associates, Abraham Chaparro, solid waste and facilities director, told the Roswell Daily Record. “We did some topographical surveying in the area and our engineering consultant raised the red flag. The cell’s filing up faster than what we thought and we need to start moving quickly” on the bidding process, he said.

City manager offers apology for water billing issues - Roswell Daily Record

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record City Manager Joe Neeb offered an apology at Thursday night’s Roswell City Council meeting for the problems the city has had with its new water billing system and said further adjustments would take another two months. “We are working diligently to try to get this thing rectified and get this fixed. Nobody should have to deal with this and we apologize for that,” Neeb said. The issue has been updating from what Neeb called an “archaic” analog billing system to a new digital system, which the city began in December. He likened it to upgrading from the video game “Pong,” the 1972 ping-pong themed game with simple black and white graphics to “Minecraft,” the three-dimensional world-creating game popular today.

Trail rehabilitation to go back to bid - Roswell Daily Record

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record The Spring River Trail rehabilitation will be going back to bid, after the city’s Infrastructure Committee voted to reject the recommended bid at its meeting Monday afternoon. The vote was made at the request of City Engineer Louis Najar. Committee members Jacob Roebuck, Margaret Kennard and George Peterson voted to reject the $208,501 bid from Constructors Inc. of Carlsbad, the sole bidder for the project. Committee member Savino Sanchez was absent. “Our budget is tight citywide. This one came significantly over budget, so what we want to do, engineering wants to take another look at it and see how we can pull some items from the bid so we can rebid it,” Najar said.
