George Erickson donated $380,000 to area charities and organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross and United Way. The recipients were selected by his wife, Sally, and the donations were made in her honor after her death in September.
UWNEMN Executive Director Erin Shay said the results are inspiring.
â2020 was a difficult year in many ways, but these results are a testament to what our communities can do when we pull together to face a crisis,â she said. âIt just goes to show you that on the Iron Range, people take care of each other.â
Funds were raised through local workplace campaigns, online donations, mail donations, fundraisers, and grant writing. The Otto Bremer Trust has awarded $11,473,300 in grants and program-related investments to 190 organizations in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, as part of its most recent grantmaking cycle.
