HONOLULU â After a year of living under lockdown conditions, I decided, on a whim, to book a vacation to Hawaii with a friend. Weâd waited long enough; it was time for us to escape the gray New England winter. When we first talked about the possibility of embarking on such a trip, it seemed like a long shot. Only thatâs when we discovered an upside to living in a global pandemic: Airfare was relatively cheap (we scored round-trip flights to Honolulu for $595) and the accommodations werenât too pricey. We could actually pull this off.
