He could be looking at like 50 years in prison, it kind of looks like the end of the world for somebody like roger stone, the end of his free life, right . But the statutory maximum sentence, the sentence he might theoretically get on paper is nowhere near what hes actually likely to get. The guidelines, for example, suggest a sentence much shorter than the statutory maximum, also its his first offense. Its sort of a whitecollar offense, although im never quite sure what the dividing line is there. In any case, nobody really thinks hes going to get decades in prison. But it is seven felony counts including witness tampering which is a serious one. Theres an interesting thing that happened right at the end of the day in court on friday right after the jury read out their verdict about roger stone in what was something of a surprise.
