Musicians recall their fondest memories of the cassette

Whereas for Ali Gul Pir, lets just say if it wasn t for Lou Otten, where would he have gotten the inspiration to become a rapper from? Our mom used to drive us to our school which was 1.5 hours away from our house. So back and forth it was a there hours commute. It would get boring and our mom would listen to Indian songs. My brother had a Discman but I had nothing, said the comedian and artist. So one day I got good grades and my mom got me a Walkman. But it only had forward and not rewind. The first CD that I got - and that’s also my first rap music purchase - was Puff Daddy’s

SAMAA - Father of the cassette tape dies at 94

Father of the cassette tape dies at 94 Lou was an extraordinary man who loved technology SAMAA | AFP - Posted: Mar 14, 2021 | Last Updated: 1 month ago SAMAA | AFP Posted: Mar 14, 2021 | Last Updated: 1 month ago Photo: AFP Tributes rolled in Friday after Dutch engineer Lou Ottens, credited with inventing the audio cassette tape and helping create the compact disc, died at the age of 94. Created by Ottens while working for electrical giant Philips, cassettes made music truly portable for the first time and allowed a generation of music fans to make mix-tapes of their favourite songs. Versatile if infuriatingly easy to unspool, more than 100 billion cassette tapes were produced worldwide in their heyday from the 1960s to the 1980s and have even enjoyed a recent retro resurgence.
