Whenever taking to the vast Maine wilderness you should always be prepared for anything to go wrong. Even if that something is not being able to find the trailhead when it s time to descend back down the mountain after enjoying a rest at the summit.
According to WMTW, a family from New Jersey was hiking Maine s popular Tumbledown Mountain in Weld on Saturday when they became disoriented at the top. After making it to the summit the family was preparing to descend back down the mountain when they lost track of where the trail entrance was. Reports indicate that the snow and ice at the top of the mountain hindered them from being able to easily see where the trail started.
