The novel contact lenses contain micro-sensors that monitor changes in eye pressure, which is a sign of possible glaucoma. The data collected is sent wirelessly to an ophthalmologist for analysis. The researchers plan to conduct a larger study before making the lenses commercially available through their spin-off company GlakoLens. This new method allows for more accurate and continuous monitoring of intra-ocular pressure, providing a better insight into the health of the eyes.
