Wineaux: Lamenting the loss of lockdown splurges

A cartoon in a recent New Yorker featured two young women, one saying to the other “I can’t wait to forget all the things I learned about myself during quarantine.”
Me, too. I’m very much hoping that being out in the world a little more these days will shove all my introspective insights back into their proper (repressed) place. Really, do I need to know? Did I ever?
Unfortunately, some of COVID’s lesser lessons will be hard to shake. Like the sad fact that resuming some semblance of normal life means less money to spend on wine. And one of the things I learned about myself is that, generally speaking, I like $20-25 bottles more than $10-15 bottles.
