rialto police department and we will put it on on the screen. she stated she found him at the bottom of the pool. officers arrived and rehe moved him from the pool. he was unresponsive. they performed cpr until paramedics arrived. he was pronounced dead at 6:11 a.m. west coast time. of course, rodney king became a national symbol of police brutality in 1991 when was be t beaten by lapd officers. an event that was videotaped and shown around the world. many people will remember those pictures. the officers involved in the beating were acquitted, the following year and the announcement of the verdict led to the devastating los angeles riots in 1992. there were 54 riot related deaths and nearly $1 billion in property damage. on the third day of the riots, king emerged on the steps of the los angeles city hall and uttered this now famous phrase. people i just want to say
