Trying to figure out what is happening in that townhouse there. At this hour you have atf here, you have fbi, local authority. Just to give you perspective. They moved us back a number of times. We are about a half mile from the townhouse in question right here. What is going on . They are attempting to issue a search warrant inside. We dont know who that is for specifically. What we do know is that it is tied in some way to the horrific shooting that took place not far from here this afternoon. What we also know is that theyre using a robot. A robot right now, as you know, they have used in situations like this before to go in, check the entirety of the house, see if there are any explosive devices. They are being extraordinarily cautious. They have also evacuated neighbors on either side of the townhouse, were told and everyone who lives in this neighborhood has been told to shelter in place and be careful, stay in their homes. Threehourlong siege at the gay nightclub. 50 people were killed, 53 wounded in this shooting. A witness shared video of the gunfire as police stormed the club. [ gunfire ] police shot and killed 29yearold omar mateen when they went in to rescue hostages. One official described the crime scene. All the killing that was done was with an Assault Rifle, with a single weapon Assault Rifle. Theres an enormous amount of havoc right now. Theres blood everywherement. I spoke to somebody who is on the site, and there is an enormous amount of evidence to be collected systematically over the course of many hours. The fbi had investigated mateen in the past for ties to terrorism, but he wasnt found to be a threat. His father denies mateen had been radicalized. Mateens exwife, though, says he was bipolar as well as abusive. And people have told some harrowing stories of how they survived by hiding in the clubs bathroom, dressing room, even under the bar.
